It's early September and for most of us, that means it's school time again. Some of us have been in school already for a while, but if your college is like mine, this is about your second week or third week of school. Now, I don't know how it is at your school, but at mine, the beginning of the year is one of my least favorite times. Sure you get to see old friends, but registering for classes, running around to see administrators and teachers, trying to get overrides, finding out the class you need is full, buying hundreds of dollars worth of books - all adds up to massive levels of stress.
Just recently a friend of mine had to go to the financial aide office because they lost the records of her scholarships and grants so she wasn't financially cleared and they dropped all her classes! They tell us the college experience is supposed to prepare us for the "real world" but if someone in the "real world" told me they couldn't find my paycheck and the repo-man was coming to take my car or something away, I can guarantee you
somebody would be getting sued! So, if you see this and can emphasize, comment below, what are some of your back-to-school experiences? Let's run!

Fighting for financial aid from TNCC was a pain. But my worst experience was trying to get my transcript from TNCC to ODU. I had TNCC mail it there twice and it never got there, then I picked up a physical copy from TNCC and dropped it off at the office at ODU and they lost it. So finally I had to get another transcript from TNCC and demand to physically hand it to the head of the financial aid department to make sure they actually got it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment! Dude, I remember you telling me that but that doesn't make it any less trifling now that I hear it a second time. I thought my school's administration could use some work but that's just ridiculous on the part of TNCC. Happy to hear you got it all handled because I know financial aid can be a monster when you don't have proper documentation.
