Getting Out There

Many of us struggled to fit in in the social hierarchy of high school, and for some of us that struggle didn't end in college. Even though I have some really great friends at school, since I live off campus, I've found that when they're busy I have literally nothing to do. Also, my school doesn't have a lot of the activities I liked in high school like there's no soccer team, the dance group is SUPER competitive, no ultimate frisbee, no Model United Nations and my other go-to activities.
That's why this year I decide to really get out there and do things outside my comfort zone (I'm a junior so I know it's late but better late than never right?). That's why today I joined the SAILING TEAM! Can I sail? No. Do I like sailing? That's what I'm about to find out! So comment below and tell me, what have your experiences with "finding yourself" in school been and how have you dealt with social environments? Let's sail!

I'm on a boat! Well actually I'm on a ferry, but you get the idea!

  1. No Model UN? That's lame. The sailing team sounds interesting. Maybe that's just what you need, you never know. Either way, hopefully you will find your niche. I've got a few friends at school, but they live over there so it's not a quick "hey come over in five minutes" kinda thing. As far as the others, when I'm free they aren't and vice versa. I'll just have to make up for it when we do hang.

  2. Protip: Play "I'm On a Boat" at least once during your sailing experience.

  3. Thanks for the comment! I hear you on the quick "pop over here" thing. A LOT happens when I leave campus, I'm realizing just how much you miss when you don't live on campus. It'll be less when I finally get my license lol but still, you miss all those random spontaneous unplanned moments that make college college. O, and you KNOW I'll be blastin' "I'm on a Boat!" at least once!
