Rain is the Devil

RAIN! It's been a while since I posted anything up here and that's because I've been having a really rough time with research papers and school. But that's not what this post is about. It's about the necessary evil called RAIN! You know the one, that rain that's super heavy right when you have to leave for your class which happens to be on the other side of campus. It's that rain that starts abruptly when you're outside with no umbrella wearing flip flops, cargo shorts and a thin graphic t. You all know the one. Sigh, now I'm all sickly on top of everything else.

On the up side, I've been crashing in my friends' room on campus [he constantly refers to me as a "squatter"] and I've been able to keep in touch with all my on-campus friends as well as make a couple new ones. Things are looking up socially even if I bombed those three tests because I was playing video games all night! O and campus may flood tomorrow so let's hope they cancel class! [but are they gonna cancel class? I don't think so] Let's flood!

Boats and Ho's!

Curse you non-actualizing beer!

Yesterday was my first day on the boats! Sailing just might be fun [as long as I don't capsize]. There's a lot to learn about rigging and certain sailing moves [who knew there were sailing moves?] but I'm a pretty smart cookie. A dark shadow on my Friday, however, was this Physics quiz. I don't know how many of you have taken or will be taking Physics, but as a Bio major, I can tell you Physics isn't my best friend. The beginning is just like Calculus though, which I can do, so I wasn't too worried about it -- that is until the teacher said if you don't use her method you won't get full credit. Since I'd been skipping class [bad, I know, but I thought I could use my Calc knowledge] that put a SERIOUS wrench in my day.

Day Man vs Night Man!
I was fully prepared to just take it and hope for the best when my brain decided to screw me over. The moment I got the quiz Night Man and Day Man from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia started playing in my head and I couldn't concentrate from laughing internally so hard. It's nigh impossible to try and find the angle measure of a vector when the words "I can't fight you man when you come inside me and pin me down with your strong hands and I'll become the Night....the passionate, passionate Night Man" So my questions to you all today are: Have you ever been trying to take a test or quiz and couldn't concentrate because of a song that was playing OVER and OVER? And if so, what song? Let's rock!

Getting Out There

Many of us struggled to fit in in the social hierarchy of high school, and for some of us that struggle didn't end in college. Even though I have some really great friends at school, since I live off campus, I've found that when they're busy I have literally nothing to do. Also, my school doesn't have a lot of the activities I liked in high school like there's no soccer team, the dance group is SUPER competitive, no ultimate frisbee, no Model United Nations and my other go-to activities.
That's why this year I decide to really get out there and do things outside my comfort zone (I'm a junior so I know it's late but better late than never right?). That's why today I joined the SAILING TEAM! Can I sail? No. Do I like sailing? That's what I'm about to find out! So comment below and tell me, what have your experiences with "finding yourself" in school been and how have you dealt with social environments? Let's sail!

I'm on a boat! Well actually I'm on a ferry, but you get the idea!

Back to School

It's early September and for most of us, that means it's school time again. Some of us have been in school already for a while, but if your college is like mine, this is about your second week or third week of school. Now, I don't know how it is at your school, but at mine, the beginning of the year is one of my least favorite times. Sure you get to see old friends, but registering for classes, running around to see administrators and teachers, trying to get overrides, finding out the class you need is full, buying hundreds of dollars worth of books - all adds up to massive levels of stress.
Just recently a friend of mine had to go to the financial aide office because they lost the records of her scholarships and grants so she wasn't financially cleared and they dropped all her classes! They tell us the college experience is supposed to prepare us for the "real world" but if someone in the "real world" told me they couldn't find my paycheck and the repo-man was coming to take my car or something away, I can guarantee you somebody would be getting sued! So, if you see this and can emphasize, comment below, what are some of your back-to-school experiences? Let's run!

Greetings and Salutations!

The author of this blog: On the Cusp

So I'm brand new to blogging, and I'm actually totally jocking my one friend who had to start a blog for school, but that's beside the point, and I just wanted to say "What's up?!?" to you interweb surfers.

Hopefully we can have fun, or you can have fun reading some of my web rants on my Life on the Cusp of Adulthoood. I'm 19, and sure, some of you would argue that I'm already an adult, but am I really? I live at home, I'm a student, I don't have a job making enough money to support myself, I can't drink *legally*, and when those 90's cartoons we love so much come on I plop down in front of the TV. So basically, I'm a high functioning toddler >.< [pause for laughter]. So, here we'll live and learn together and hopefully you guys'll come with me over the threshold. Let's run!
